CORIUS Conference 2024 – Expertise meets passion
The focus of this year’s CORIUS Conference was once again the network-wide exchange of ideas and information relating to developments in the dermatology sector. The talks explored key issues such as dermato-oncology (including “Current Guideline Development in Dermato-Oncology”), aspects of aesthetic medicine (including “Trends in Aesthetic Medicine: Biostimulators”) and laser medicine (including “Conservative and Instrumental Options for Scar Treatment”). Other highlights included presentations on the use of artificial intelligence in dermatology and current developments in the area of dermatological care structures. Two guest presentations by Prof Thomas Dirschka (“Conflict between Self-Employed Professionals and Corporate Structures in Dermatology”) and by Prof Falk Bechara (“Hidradenitis Suppurativa”) provided further inspiration.
With a total of 16 presentations for specialist doctors, the CORIUS Conference offered a platform for an intensive exchange of professional views and further training for assistants. The event was certified with eight points for further training. “The CORIUS Conference brings together all the doctors and trainees with different focuses and experiences in our Group,” said Heidi Niemöller, CEO of the CORIUS Group. “Our congress offers doctors the opportunity to discuss innovations, learn from each other and benefit from knowledge sharing. As diverse as the perspectives and focuses in our network are, what unites us all and makes us a strong collective group is our passion for dermatology.”
From theory to practice: Live suturing course at the CORIUS Conference
A special highlight of this year’s CORIUS Conference was the live suturing course, led by Assoc Prof Lukas Kofler, medical director of the MVZ Hautzentrum am Holzmarkt in Biberach an der Riß. Through the practical application of suturing techniques, participants were given the opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge directly into practice and deepen their skills under the guidance of an expert. The live suturing course was an ideal complement to the expert talks and enabled participants not only to learn about dermatological innovation, but also to experience it up close.
Prof Uwe Reinhold, president of the CORIUS Conference and a member of the Medical Advisory Board responsible for education and training said: “We bring dermatology to life through application-oriented practical examples. Such workshops are particularly important for the trainees in our network in order to transfer theoretical knowledge into practice and thus actively shape the future of dermatology.”
This year, for the first time, 17 exhibitors from the pharmaceutical and medical industry presented new products and concepts at the CORIUS Conference in the Scandic Hotel on the Museumsufer in Frankfurt.
